Central Plaza Clock

You're running late, you don't have a watch, and you need to know the time.

Cast your gaze upon the spire of the 78-storey Central Plaza in Wan Chai.

From Central Plaza:

It consists of four (spandrel) neon bands, each representing 15 minutes, that change colour on the quarter hour, progressing through the hour, according to a fixed six-hour colour cycle.

View large image When all four bands are the same colour, a new hour begins. The colours run in the following order: 18.00 (red), 19.00 (white), 20.00 (purple), 21.00 (yellow), 22.00 (pink), and 23.00 (green).

At midnight it begins again with red, running through the cycle until 06.00.

It's handy, but you have no excuse for not owning a timepiece in a city jammed full with watch shops.
