If you ever want to see a tacky attempt at cashing in on someone else's fame, look no further than Hong Kong.
How else would you explain the Obama Language Centre? You can be certain it didn't exist prior to 2008.
Maybe it's named that way because the owner is a fan of the President of the United States. Or maybe it's because Obama is easy to transliterate; it's far easier than Bush, and to my knowledge there's no Bush Language Centre in the city (not that I blame anyone; it would be the kiss of death for a business).
Or maybe the owner figured that Obama's popularity would somehow translate into students in the classrooms. Whatever the case, it's blatant opportunism, and in the end it may be short-sighted.
What if Obama doesn't get re-elected?
