The Windy City
After all my years in the Big Lychee I still fail to understand how some people can be completely oblivious to social graces.
Like the guy walking in front of me who suddenly unloaded flatulence. Loudly.
This sort of thing happens more than you know; I heard one woman do it right next to people's faces as she descended the staircase in a 747. I've heard countless folks do it in grocery stores, parks, in malls, pretty much anywhere.
I'm not certain where this quirk comes from, but I recall that in Canada most people would attempt to locate a space out of earshot to avoid embarrassment. It isn't hyperbole to say that a few Hong Kongers have no shame whatsoever, particularly when they cut loose on crowded trains.
Either that or they figure it's good cover.
