Prison Penitence

Yip Kai-foon, Hong Kong's most notorious gangster, has "publicly expressed his remorse" for his crime spree in the late 80s.

In response to questions posed by a Christian magazine, Yip said:

I definitely regret the wrong things I did in the past. My family experienced great trouble, and had to bear the burden and the worrying. Society was also hurt. But luckily I didn't hurt any human lives. Over time, I hope the guilt in my heart will be washed away.

Time he's got, what with his 36-year sentence.

Sincere or otherwise, being confined to a wheelchair after being gunned down and paralysed means that even when Yip is paroled, he's unlikely to return to robbing jewelry stores with AK-47s.
