You Reap What You Sow

Scene: busy MTR platform.

As the couple in front of me steps aside to let passengers alight from the train, the guy on my right tries to skooch ahead. The couple, unaware of his movements, begin boarding when all is clear, with me close behind.

The guy to my right, seeing I am about to follow the pair to the left, tries to buttonhook around me (in essence, to cut me off) because a few seats were free. Tired of this boorish behaviour, I simply close the gap, letting my backpack cut him off.

Incredibly, he says aloud: "You're quite rude, aren't you? Quite rude."

Shooting back, I say: "Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you."
