Major Tranquility Result

If you've ever wondered why the MTR is full of elderly folks on Wednesdays (and public holidays), it's the special concessionary rate of $2 per trip for those aged 65 or older.

My mother-in-law loves this; she can travel from way up in the New Territories to her favourite markets on the Hong Kong side and back for a paltry $4 round-trip.

This is a time-limited offer (until August!), mind you, but I love it too. If I'm working at home on Wednesday, I get the house all to myself, which means zero noise from the brutally bad programming on Hong Kong television.
