Two Minutes for Spearing

Hong Kong's MTR asks that people with large baggage use the lifts instead of the escalator, for both practical and safety reasons.

Yet most people ignore the signs and announcements and proceed directly to the escalators because they can't be bothered to walk 30 extra seconds to find the lift.

Thus it was that as I was walking down the escalator and about to pass some fool taking up too much space with his bulky cart, he shifted position and speared me in the chest with some type of pole that had been poking up.

It's a good thing the stations have safety doors installed, because at that moment I was tempted to throw him in front of the train.
