Long Live the Tram

Hong Kong Tramways is pondering a fare increase.

For a long time it has been fixed at $2 regardless of distance travelled and has remained the Big Lychee's most economical mode of transport.

If the fare jumps to $2.50 or $3 I doubt anyone will complain; the money will be poured into improvements and maintenance, which means the iconic trams will continue to rumble and the familiar ding ding! will be heard for years to come.

I'm all for that.
