Axe the Anthem

Sent a letter to the South China Morning Post that will probably earn me some hate mail.

In case you missed it:

Can we call for a moratorium on the playing of the national anthem before the 6.30pm news broadcast on TVB Jade?

We get it already: Hong Kong is part of China. We don't need to be beaten over the head.

Is the motherland so insecure that it feels it must force-feed patriotism to Hong Kongers?

Canada and the United States don't play their anthems at news hour, they stick to official gatherings and public sporting events and that's all it takes.

Axe the anthem.

You will be patriotic, and you'll like it.
