The World's Most Expensive Flat

If you have money to burn and are a complete moron, you can buy what is probably the world's most expensive flat right here in Hong Kong.

It's a bargain at just HK$357.73 million (about US$45.9 million), and even comes with a fabricated floor number. You too can be on the 66th floor in a 40-storey building, if you believe that it's okay for the developer to go beyond mere superstition (taking out floors 4, 13, 14, 24, 34) and arbitrarily remove floors 40 through 59, 62, 64, 65, 67 and 69 through 87.

The flat measures 5,636 square feet but includes "a 96 sq ft window seat, 98 sq ft air-conditioner area and 1,124 sq ft of common area", which means usable space is actually 4,318 square feet. Sure, $46 million is a drop in the buck for a billionaire; it's like spending $46 on a trinket when you have $1,000 in your pocket, and you know you can replace that $46 without even thinking about it. But it's not a lot of bang for your buck when you can get much larger and nicer places elsewhere for that much jing.

However, this is Hong Kong, and you can be certain that the flat will be bought for the sole reason the floor number is 66, which represents double good fortune.

After blowing much dough, you'd need it.
