And Make It First Class!
It looks as though behaving like a spoiled brat pays off.
Remember that video of the giant two-year-old? She had a four hour meeting with Cathay Pacific customer relations executives upon her return to Hong Kong to gripe about being embarrassed.
"She was surprisingly quiet and dignified in the meeting," an airport source said. "She didn't raise her voice once and kept very calm as she explained how much embarrassment the YouTube video had caused her. She said that all her friends and family had seen it."
A Cathay Pacific spokeswoman said last night that the woman and her husband had not sought compensation, but said they had been given upgrades to business class on their next flight to San Francisco as a "gesture of goodwill".
The couple would also receive reimbursement of the air miles they had used for seat upgrades on recent journeys with Cathay, she said.
Because the video had been shot by a Cathay Pacific employee instead of some random passenger, the woman, who regularly travels between Hong Kong and San Francisco (and thus knows that she needs to be at the airport on time), gets compensated for her tantrum.
Now I'm the one who feels cheated. I rarely get an exit row seat even though I'm 6'2", even when I ask far in advance. Next time I'm denied I'll throw myself on the ground and wail; someone's bound to record it for the web.
Could mean a nice fat upgrade.
