And Not a Drop to Drink
The Water Supplies Department killed the feed to the entire area, except they neglected to tell anyone.
From 9.00am no one could bathe or flush. Thanks a lot, pinheads.
If you didn't have water on hand, you would be out of luck until 5.00pm, when the supply was scheduled to resume (according to the WSD after we called to complain). Two hours later it was back, but that didn't mean we could be certain it wouldn't be turned off again.
They must have shut down for heavy cleaning, because the water was a deep maroon and ran dark for several minutes. Even after fading to a lighter brown and then more clear we could still see a distinct yellow tint. And yet some people still think we're silly to have a water purifier; more the fools. If they could see the filter when we change it out they'd sing a different tune.
Taking advantage of the flow, we refilled containers with purified water in case we were cut off again. And as much as I'd like to shower, I'll wait until I'm sure the water won't disappear while I'm lathered up.
We don't expect anything from the WSD by way of apology, other than the usual platitude.
