The Ark of Ma Wan Park
When Ma Wan Park opens in January 2009, visitors will find "the world's first 'full-size' replica of Noah's Ark".
Why? Who knows? What the ark has to do with Hong Kong is beyond me.
There are five levels inside the ark, which will house a restaurant, an exhibition hall, an education centre and a museum for children. The top floor will have a hotel and a hostel overlooking the sea.
The park's general manager said:
Under the financial tsunami, every Hongkonger is facing challenges. The opening of the Noah's Ark is timely, as it serves as a symbol of hope.
Maybe, but "tsunami" wasn't the best choice of words, considering the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami flooded inland and killed more than 180,000 people.
That alone is enough to make me not want to go see it.
