In 2007 researchers at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University claimed that more than 100 measurements are required to make the perfect bra, one that would fit like a second skin and therefore be comfortable.
That's all well and good, assuming that Hong Kong women want such bras. Judging by the ceaseless surfeit of underwear advertising, ladies in these parts have been brainwashed into choosing bras to enhance their figures. A glance in any direction will confirm this; many women wear bras so over-padded that their clothing collapses at the top (for lack of support), making the upper chest appear caved in.
Not attractive.
Moreover, no one is fooled: it's the female equivalent of guys who stuff tube-socks down their pants.
Scientists may be able to create the perfect-fitting bra, but as the Cantonese colloquialism concludes: if a cow doesn't want to drink you can't force its head down.
