H5N1 bird flu has popped up in chickens at a Sham Shui Po market, the first time the virus has been detected in Hong Kong in five years.

Chicken farmers have been banned from selling live birds for 21 days, while 2,700 birds have been whacked.

And wonder of wonders, no one is panicking; chicken sales have slowed not one bit.

Why?

It's the weekend of the Tuen Ng Festival, and every good Hong Konger knows that you can't celebrate without chicken.
