No Dignity
Hong Kong newspapers sure love their gore.
First we read about some poor old man getting hit and dragged along the platform by an MTR train, complete with mention of a severe head injury and death. But to make matters worse, this line was included:
His dentures, shoes and mobile phone were left lying at the scene.
Why is that important? Why report it? Why traumatise the guy's family further?
Do we really need to know the train hit him so hard that it knocked him spang out of his shoes and popped out the dentures? And who gives a rat's ass about his mobile phone? Only in Hong Kong is that considered relevant.
The stupidest line in the piece was: "Train services at the station were disrupted ..." No, really? I never would have guessed.
To the Hong Kong media, there's no such thing as preserving anyone's dignity in death.
