Unlucky Oasis

We're either unlucky or lucky, depending on how you look at it.

Because we want to visit our families in Canada, we've been looking at Hong Kong's low-cost carrier Oasis Airlines. Under its operating system, when seats are booked far in advance the fare is much cheaper, however all flights must be paid in full upon confirmation.

Seems reasonable, right? Wrong.

Out of the blue, Oasis has gone belly up.

Sure, we're unlucky because we now have to consider more expensive carriers, but we're fortunate indeed not to be sitting on a mirage of useless tickets and scrambling to get our money back from an airline in liquidation.

I'll take that kind of rotten luck any day.
