Bound Bananas
Petty gripe time.
I'm not sure why, but local grocery chain Park 'N Shop has the annoying habit of instructing produce handlers to wrap banana bunches with tape.
Do the managers think we're children; that we're going to rip all the bananas apart and spread them all over the produce section?
If I see eight bananas that are in better shape than the rest but don't need that many, I should have the option of splitting the bunch; taping it won't "prevent" me from doing so, because I refuse to settle for smaller bunches as they're often beat-up (and also taped). Even if I select a bunch as is, I have the hassle of taking off the tape at home.
To my knowledge Hong Kong's other grocery stores don't do this, nor do the fruit vendors in street stalls or in wet markets.
Binding bananas is a waste of everyone's time.
And tape.
