Hong Kong teenagers may be different from their Western counterparts in many ways, but when it comes to common sense they're identical.
Despite a brisk breeze and a low of 7 Celsius, which is fairly frosty and can easily cause hypothermia, I spotted a girl on the platform of a train station wearing little more than a skimpy skirt and tee shirt. Her boyfriend's sport coat was draped loosely about her shoulders while he stood shivering in his tee shirt with his arms tightly crossed, trying to keep his core temperature from plummeting.
Just like Canadian kids, they thought dressing for the weather would make them look uncool.
Or mess up their hair.
