McRefugees
In Hong Kong, McDonald's isn't just a fast food joint, it's a place to crash.
Hong Kongers who cannot afford to pay rent or who want to save a money on late-night transportation choose to sleep in McDonald's outlets that are open 24 hours. It sounds uncomfortable, but it beats life as a cage-dweller (some 130,000 folks in this town still live in cages and cubicles) or sleeping in a park.
Now the backpacking crowd has a free alternative to spending the night at the Chungking Mansions.
