Because Grade 2 Is Tough

Surveys of a few hundred people are often used to indicate the opinions of Hong Kongers territory-wide.

The margin of error in such polls is high.

But a Boys and Girls Clubs Association database of 1.4 million children has revealed some disturbing figures, and with that high a number, the margin of error is slim:

· there has been a 30% increase in the number of children seeking psychiatric help over the past five years;

· more than 35% of primary school students had symptoms of depression;

· 15% of primary school students had thought about committing suicide.

Primary school students; little kids, for Pete's sake!

That's Hong Kong's education system, in a nutshell.
