Equal Under Basic Law
If you're a gay man under 21 in Hong Kong, you no longer need fear prosecution for intimate acts with another man 16 years of age or older.
The government has decided not to appeal a court ruling which called outdated laws banning sex between males under 21 unconstitutional.
By not taking the case to the Court of Final Appeal, the government is now forced to review all related laws and policies applicable to the homosexual community that could result in discrimination lawsuits.
Whether for, against or indifferent to gay relationships, no one can argue that homosexuals should not have the same rights under the law as everyone else.
Because first and foremost they're human beings, and deserve to be treated as such.
