Double-Decker Destruction

Double-decker bus crashes don't happen often in Hong Kong's crowded streets, but when they do, they're ugly.

Such was the case when a KMB bus veered off the road, clipped a traffic light, mowed down pedestrian railings, climbed onto the sidewalk, and had its entire roof sheared off when it collided with the concrete canopy of a building.

In the process, one man was killed and a dozen others were injured, including four pedestrians who were knocked down.

Many times I've cautioned my wife to be on the lookout for wayward vehicles, at intersections in particular, because accidents like this are inevitable. With the high volume of traffic, it's not a question of if, but when.

This is just a sad reminder to always be on guard and leave yourself and escape route when walking down a Hong Kong street.
