The number one rule for queueing in Hong Kong is this: never leave personal space between the person in front and yourself, for it is guaranteed that someone will step into the gap thinking it's the tail end of the line, even if 50 other people are queued behind you.

The second rule is this: if Hong Kongers are queued at a bus stop in a tourist area, those trying to board without waiting in line are likely to be mainlanders.
