Deficient Deliveries

An open letter to Park N' Shop and Wellcome, Hong Kong's two major grocery stores:

Dear Incompetent Bunglers,

Whom must I kill to ensure that my grocery delivery arrives with everything I ordered? 98% of the time, online orders are missing items when they reach my house.

Why is this the rule rather than the exception? Is it so difficult to anticipate that demand for specials and sale-priced products will require additional stock in the warehouse beforehand?

I fail to understand why it's beyond your ability to maintain stock of a basic product such as bread. When I order two loaves, you ship none. If I order six, you ship two.

Does this mean I have to order 12 loaves if I want four? Who dreamed up this system?

And why can't you manage to find even one bottle of wine? I've received but a single bottle the last dozen times I've ordered one. Were it a bottle of Hennessy X.O I'm certain you'd bend over backwards to ensure delivery, considering the profit involved.

I order online to avoid the ordeal of shopping in your cramped, overcrowded stores and frittering away my life in long, slow-moving queues.

But at the moment the only way to guarantee I'll get everything I want is to drop by, fill a cart and then arrange delivery, which defeats the purpose of online ordering.

On the other hand, I would avoid the time wasted sending e-mail or making phone calls to arrange second deliveries, as well as being tied up waiting for them.

I can only surmise that it must be excruciating to exercise common sense and ensure supplies of popular goods are topped up.

Either that or you enjoy squandering resources.

Get your act together.

Sincerely,

A Disgruntled Patron
