According to the Business Software Alliance, 54% of software on Hong Kong business computers in 2005 was pirated.
The chairwoman said:
It is clear that more needs to be done to effectively address software piracy in Hong Kong and perhaps a different approach needs to be taken.
Here's a radical idea: lower the price of legitimate software to reasonable levels so people stop feeling ripped off, which in turn gives them the impetus to seek the cheap pirated version.
Oh wait, it's not radical: I suggested the same thing more than three years ago.
