Since when does it take 30 days to remove an e-mail address from a mailing list?
According to HSBC's so-called privacy policy, it has the right to continue to send spam (and junk mail) up to 30 days after receiving an opt-out request.
I only learned of this after more spam landed in my inbox. No one at the branch mentioned it when we asked to be spared all the promotional garbage three weeks earlier.
It gets better. HSBC has the nerve to include this in its policy:
You may at any time, choose not to receive e-mail marketing literature/information about our service. Please let us know by calling our Direct Financial Services hotline (852) 2748 8222 and we will delete your name from our mailing lists without charge.
Allow me to fall prostrate in exuberant gratitude for not tacking on yet another service fee.
I have my own policy: instead of wasting more of my time ripping HSBC a new one, I'll just report all future mailings to SpamCop.
