Fireboat Museum
Quarry Bay Park is getting a new museum.
The Alexander Grantham, Hong Kong's former flagship fireboat, is being towed from the Hong Kong Shipyard in Tsing Yi, where it has resided since being mothballed in 2002 after 49 years' service. The boat, named for Hong Kong's governor from 1947 to 1957, weighs 500 tonnes, measures 38.9 metres in length by 8.8 metres in width (about 130 feet by 29 feet), and will be crane hoisted onto a support frame on shore.
It'll look huge perched there, and I look forward to photographing it.
