A Hong Kong woman is suing Rolex for negligence.
Why? Because she suffered "psychological trauma" after developing an ugly rash on her left arm from two weeks of wearing her new watch.
The cause? She didn't peel off the removable transparent sticker on the back, thinking that she would "forfeit Rolex's worldwide guarantee or lose any proof of the watch's authenticity".
Does she ingest the stickers on apples because peeling them off would mean the fruit can no longer be proven genuine? People like her are the reason behind most of the inane warnings one finds in product manuals these days.
She's asking for $46,900 (about US$6,012) in damages because she had to wear long sleeves to cover the rash. Considering the watch cost $30,000, I doubt the rash is worth an extra $16,900.
This is nothing more than an opportunistic ploy to get Rolex to pay for her new trinket.
