Worthless Wire

Police want the operators of the Tsing Ma Bridge to string barbed wire on the railings to dissuade people from suicide dives.

It's not a great idea: not only would wire detract from the bridge's appearance, it wouldn't be much of a deterrent; anyone intent on taking his own life isn't going to worry about the prospect of getting a cut or two.

Aside of that, have the police never heard of wire cutters?
