The Dragonflies of Mai Po

A study by the World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong has determined the Mai Po Nature Reserve is not only home to migratory birds, but to 51 species of dragonfly.

Fifteen of the 51 species are "rare or uncommon" to Hong Kong, while the Mortonagrion hirosei (four-spot midget), is listed as endangered.

I've yet to photograph the reserve; as I'm without an entrance permit, I have to book three months in advance for a guided tour.

Should I take it, I hope to capture images of various bird groups, including pelicans, herons, ducks, shorebirds and the famous black-face spoonbill.

Dragonflies too.
