Fix Fantasy
Hong Kong government nanny ads are so far removed from reality I can't help but laugh.
In any public announcement which features a repairman working in the home, the fellow wears pristine white overalls and explains every facet of the overhaul to doting homeowners.
Pure fantasy.
I've had numerous improvements made in various flats over the years; in no instance has a repairman ever worn white overalls. More often than not, he arrives in grubby, musty clothes that appear not to have been washed in recent memory. Some show up wearing nothing more than a pair of shorts and flip-flops.
As for explaining anything, when the work is completed the guy wants to be paid so he can leave as soon as possible; time is money. The best I've received is a quick demonstration that the replaced parts are in working order.
If ever a labourer showed up in clean white overalls, I'd pass out from the shock.
