Hong Kong's Most Wanted

Hong Kong Police are offering a $50,000 (about US$6,410) reward for information leading to the arrest of the infamous Mid-Levels Dog Poisoner.

The sick bastard has injured or killed more than 200 animals in the past 16 years; the favoured poisoning method is lacing meat with the organophosphate carbofuran. Dogs ingesting meat tainted with the insecticide suffer agonizing pain and convulsions. Larger dogs may survive if treated in time; most smaller dogs don't.

Police have put up posters along the poisoner's hunting grounds: Black's Link and Bowen Road, and hope the reward offer will result in an arrest.

While the reward is a good idea, it's not enough: a little more than $3,000 for each year the poisoner has been at it. Bump that figure up to $500,000 and a lot more folks would be out looking for this creep.

I'd even consider donning a ghillie suit and hiding in the bushes with a baseball bat for a chance to kneecap the first guy I saw carrying a bag of raw meat.
