The Flutist

This city never runs out of surprises.

View large image Wandering the upper levels of Central, camera in hand, I heard a Chinese flute emanating from Chancery Lane behind Victoria Prison.

Intrigued, I followed the sound to discover the musician was a Westerner: not what I'd expected.

Here on a visit from Australia, Eric is an interesting chap. He's into world music, hence the Chinese flute, and he's not a bad either; a Chinese couple complimented his playing as they passed.

The most intriguing thing he told me was that he spent six months living with the Aborigines in the Outback. Among the numerous instruments he plays is the didgeridoo, which requires the mastery of circular breathing.

That's neat.

One of the reasons I love Hong Kong is the opportunity to meet cool people or learn something new each time I step out the door.
