Glad To Amuse You

I visited my doctor, a calm and collected Chinese fellow, to get his endorsement as the guarantor of my passport photo before taking it to the consulate.

When I explained why I needed it, he started laughing. He laughed harder when I mentioned my current passport photo made me look like an older, fatter cousin.

He lost it when I flipped open the passport to show him. A few moments passed before he was able to get it together.

"I'm sorry," he said, wiping a tear from the corner of one eye.

"Don't worry about it. It's funny!" I admitted.

"The passport office staff will be talking about this for a long time," he predicted.

The next day I took a call from the consulate. The lady processing my application wanted to know why I was renewing my passport when it was a few years away from expiry.

When I relayed the story, she too started laughing. Then she exclaimed, "Now you look like a younger brother!"

Doc was right!
