Real Friends

While warming up for tai chi, I was accosted by four Filipinas carrying small, folded bits of paper.

Knowing the issuance of a tract was imminent, I remained polite and steered the conversation away from anything religious. To their credit, for Jehovah's Witnesses, they weren't pushy.

Moments later, my si fu arrived and I thought I might be off the hook. No such luck; the soon-to-be-in-the-recycle-bin pamphlets were handed out in due course.

One of the women tried to hand me a much larger Awake! magazine which bore the headline: How To Make Real Friends.

I declined her offer, and bit my tongue before my smart mouth got me in trouble by declaring that I was happy with my imaginary ones.
