Herbs, Hemp and Jelly

Drinking 24-herbs bitter tea is a great way to offset the damage to the body caused by running around areas of Hong Kong with higher concentrations of air pollution.

The mixture is purported to have a host of both curative and preventative properties. Chinese medicine practitioners swear it's the best way to destroy a cold or smack down the flu. They'll also tell you not to eat chicken soup, as chicken increases heat in the body, whereas the bitter tea removes internal heat.

I didn't find it all that bitter, but then I drink a lot of tea and I'm used to the tannins.

Another good drink is made from hemp seed; the flavour is nutty and sweet. Cold-pressed hemp yields an oil with the highest profile of Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids.

If your plumbing is wonky, try a cold common self-healing fruit spike. It's a refreshing drink with a weird name, but it tastes far better than that nasty pink goo from the pharmacy.

I'm willing to try most Chinese herbal products, but I still draw the line at turtle jelly.
