The Dark Canuck
My passport is no longer a laughing matter.
The last two times I crossed the border into mainland China, immigration officers took one look at the photo and stopped processing to confer with their colleagues to determine whether it was me.
I explained I've lost weight and even showed them my Hong Kong ID card as proof, but the expression of distrust never left their faces.
This doesn't happen at Hong Kong or Macao's border check points.
Why are mainland officers so paranoid: do I look dangerous?
