Kowloon Walled City Park

Kowloon Walled City Park is a magnificent oasis bordering the bustle of Kowloon City.

View large image Based on the Jiangnan gardens of the early Qing Dynasty, the park is a seamless blend of eight landscaped attractions.

The park resides on a parcel of land that once contained the infamous Kowloon Walled City:

Inhabiting a block the size of the Tokyo Dome, Kowloon Walled City resembed a living, breathing creature, born from its inhabitants over its long lifespan. But the walled city was more than a physical conglomeration of buildings and people, it was an inadvertent symbol of the long struggle between China and Hong Kong, ruled by neither.

I'm disappointed I wasn't in Hong Kong to see the Walled City before it was demolished.

I settled for the park and came away with several nice images.
