The Bloody Stumps

One of Hong Kong's many limb-deprived beggars has reached a new low in shamelessness.

The parasite, a Causeway Bay fixture as recognisable as the famous Sogo department store, was naked but for a ragged pair of pants. He'd painted the stump of his leg and a 'bandaged' arm stump with red paint to make them look like fresh wounds.

Amateur.

A true professional would have painted the bandage maroon; the real colour of dried blood.

He tried to appear as pathetic as possible by employing the seasoned mendicant's most effective method: he lay prone on the sidewalk, bopping his forehead off his remaining hand, which he had splayed on the concrete.

That cuts zero ice with me; I'll stick to giving my money to the old, blind guy playing the erhu.
