A Shoulder To Sleep On

The young woman seated beside me at the back of the bus nodded off halfway home.

Her head lolled to one side and then the other, coming to rest against my shoulder. I was surprised, but didn't move for concern of waking her or making her uncomfortable.

Instead I waited until she awoke; when she did she was unaware the stranger beside her had served as a temporary pillow.

Unusual behaviour, considering most Chinese go out of their way to avoid sitting next to me.
