Bagcutters

Hong Kong is to pickpockets as Shenzhen is to bagcutters.

Okay, bagcutters isn't really a word, but in this instance it fits. My friend Carolyn found out the hard way that carrying a large canvas Fendi shoulder bag in the Lo Wu Commercial Building, over the border into mainland China, is an invitation to disaster. Someone standing behind her on the escalator slashed the handbag while trying to rifle it for her wallet.

The horror ... the horror.
