Go-Go Music
Music hath charms to soothe the savage bowels.
Responding to the survey that found one million people in Hong Kong suffer from constipation, an alternative solution has been offered: Chinese Medical Psychosomatic Music Therapy.
Giving a whole new meaning to the term go-go music, the CD promises:
The meter of the music will promote better digestion and allow the circulation of qi to gradually resume normal condition, resulting in regular stool.
The music was performed by the Shanghai Chinese Traditional Orchestra. How'd you like to have been a musician on that project? That can't look good on a résumé.
Wind Records, the Taiwanese label that produced that chart-topping CD, Constipation, produces nine other discs that tackle other problems, from headache to cancer. Considering the label's name, it's wise they don't have a CD for chronic flatulence. The company claims to have had a success rate as high as 80% in provincial hospitals in mainland China, but in conjunction with proper medication.
That caveat means the music itself wouldn't be enough. While soothing music might help people unclench enough to get things moving, it won't solve an unbalanced diet.
There might be something to be said for helping folks grunt in key.
