Outside The Box
The latest fashion trend for young ladies to hit Hong Kong is boxing boots.
Everywhere I look I see girls wearing long-style or high-top boxing boots in a virtual rainbow of garish hues. The colour-combinations are endless, hence the popularity.
I'm not against this trend. The boots look silly with coloured nylon stockings and skirts, but what the heck, it's kids having fun.
I won't break out the fashion-victim label until I see middle-aged women wearing them while picking out baahk choi at the local wet market.
Update: I wasn't joking about the boxing shoes.
These are a sample of what's available in shoe stores. The kids think they'll look bad-ass, despite that few know anything about boxing.
It won't be long before this trend dies and these shoes get stuffed into a box in the back of the closet.
