Get Thee To A Nunnery
One of my favourite places to visit is the Chi Lin Nunnery*.
Founded in 1930, Chi Lin Nunnery in Diamond Hill was rebuilt in 2000 using traditional Tang dynasty (618-907AD) architectural techniques. No nails were used. The timber Buddhist halls are held together with dowelling and wooden brackets.
It spans over 33,000 square meters and contains a lotus pond garden along with 16 halls housing religious statuary made from gold, stone, wood and clay.
The complex is peaceful, quiet, beautiful, and smells great; the soothing and pleasant scent of yellow cedar wafts throughout the structure. Few places in Hong Kong are as tranquil.
It's my pleasure to share my latest photo gallery, taken during two visits to Chi Lin Nunnery.
