The Face of the Lion
I've wanted to hike Lion Rock, or Sz Tsz Shan, for quite some time.
At 495 metres, it's not Hong Kong's highest peak, but it is one of the more challenging. From a distance, Lion Rock presents the profile of a crouching lion.
The path branching off Stage 5 of the MacLehose Trail was steep, earning a warning sign at the junction to remind hikers of the difficulty.
The climb went up the back of the lion, down the neck and back up to the head. The head sported a vertical cliff face, a favourite of rock climbers.
On the south side of the head, a face jutted from the stone; it looks like either George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.
You decide.
