The mainland Chinese team of crocodile hunters headed home after failing to catch the Yuen Long crocodile over the past nine days. The plan to snag the beast with nets strung across the river proved fruitless when the crocodile emerged on the other side.

Australian expert John Lever, who also failed to catch the animal, has offered his services once again, this time armed with a laser-guided harpoon accurate to 30 metres. He wasn't surprised the mainland team failed, as they were hunting during the day. His advice is to leave the crocodile alone until the end of winter. Once the temperature rises it will resume eating.

And continue foiling its hunters.
