Cover The Keypad!

Some Hong Kong ATMs have new stickers advising users to cover the keypad while entering their PINs.

The initiative is to educate people about proper security measures because of bank frauds. Most people stand back a foot from the machine and punch in the code for the world to see. All it takes to empty their bank accounts is a spotter to loiter and memorise PINs, and a skilled pickpocket to relieve the hapless bank customer of his wallet.

This may explain the increasing incidents of head-bashing robberies, where ATM users get conked on the head with a brick, or worse, a hammer, and wake up to find themselves with a head full of pain and a wallet full of air.

This in a city where the making and keeping of money is practically a religion.
