Cricket Cacophony

The hills are alive, with the sound of ...

crickets.

It's a good thing we live on a high floor with air conditioning, because we're able to keep the windows closed at night. That cuts out most of the noise from what must be thousands of crickets infesting the hills behind our estate.

It's not that I mind the sound; it can be soothing. But soothing doesn't describe these little buggers.

They're loud.
