Sammi

Sammi Cheng Sau-man (鄭秀文) is one of the reigning goddesses of Cantopop.

View large image This photo is from inside an MTR station. It's part of yet another skin-whitening advertisement, in which Sammi's airbrushed face is the official shill for the brand she endorses. I say airbrushed, because without that and the makeup, she's less dazzling.

She does have a nice smile, though, and she smiles a lot, which is good because when she pouts, her chin disappears.

Sammi is the most bankable female lead in Hong Kong films; any film she stars in will bring in over HK$20 million.

I've listened to a few of her songs; I even like one of them. She doesn't have much power in her voice, but she does sing in key, a far cry from some of her peers.

Anyone coming to Hong Kong will recognise her face in loads of advertisements, but that's not a bad thing.

She's not hard to look at.
